Georgian Foreign Minister outlines foreign policy priorities amid regional challenges

On Saturday, Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili addressed the annual meeting of heads of Georgian diplomatic missions abroad, highlighting the nation’s foreign policy priorities and the challenges posed by the complex international landscape.

“The ongoing processes in our region, which is at the epicenter of global politics, are most painfully reflected on Georgia. We need special caution and, at the same time, courage to protect the interests of our country in the given situation,” Botchorishvili stated.

She outlined the government’s key foreign policy goals, including the peaceful restoration of territorial integrity, strengthening of sovereignty, ensuring stability and security, advancing Georgia’s integration into European and Euro-Atlantic institutions, and fostering deeper relations with international partners.

“Given today’s challenges, only by pursuing a firm, pragmatic, and results-oriented policy will we be able to fulfill and implement our constitutional goals,” the Minister noted.

Botchorishvili also emphasized the interplay between foreign and domestic policy, stressing the importance of accurate domestic policy perception and thorough international analysis to safeguard Georgia’s interests in a volatile global environment.

“Today, more than ever, Georgia needs the strength of its state institutions to ensure that the axis of the state’s functioning is strong,” she added.

The Foreign Minister concluded by thanking Georgian diplomats for their dedication to defending the nation’s interests and their unwavering loyalty to Georgia.
