Georgia remains committed to its strategic goal of joining NATO, despite longstanding challenges, Foreign Minister Maka Bochorishvili stated in an interview with the Spanish news agency EFE.

She recalled the 2008 NATO pledge to open its doors to Ukraine and Georgia, emphasizing that “this door was never truly opened.” Bochorishvili stressed that decisions regarding NATO enlargement should be realistic and achievable.

According to EFE, Georgia has taken note of recent US statements suggesting that Ukraine’s place is not in NATO, drawing a “simple lesson” from the situation.
