Maka Botchorishvili, Georgia’s nominee for Foreign Minister, has outlined her vision for the country’s foreign policy, emphasizing a “balanced” approach aimed at fostering peace, stability, and regional cooperation. Her statements came during a speech at a joint session of parliamentary committees following her nomination by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Monday.

Botchorishvili pledged to uphold the principles of territorial integrity, sovereignty, and good-neighborly relations while strengthening regional security. She noted that Georgia would support dialogue and constructive cooperation among its neighbors, highlighting that these efforts align with the shared interests of the region. “Strengthening peace and stability is the best opportunity for fully harnessing the unique potential of our region,” she said.

The nominee underscored Georgia’s commitment to multidimensional cooperation with Turkey and Azerbaijan, particularly through strategic partnerships involving projects of regional and global significance. She also affirmed that close collaboration with Armenia would remain a priority.

Botchorishvili praised recent advancements in political dialogue, emphasizing the importance of maintaining high-level engagement with neighboring states. “We are committed to maintaining an unprecedentedly high dynamic of political dialogue at the highest levels with all three countries in the region, as we have seen in recent years,” she stated.

Earlier in the day, her candidacy was endorsed by three parliamentary committees, signaling strong support for her appointment.
