Macron says Russia increased aggression towards neighbours, destabilized elections in Georgia

French President Emmanuel Macron has accused Russia of escalating its aggression and altering the nature of its actions against European countries and other parts of the world in recent years. Speaking at France’s annual ambassadors’ conference, Macron highlighted destabilizing activities in Georgia, Armenia, Moldova, and even within EU member states.

“Over the past years, Russia has increased its aggression and shifted the nature of its hostility toward Europe and other regions. We see this in Armenia, where Russia abruptly changed its alliance to support Azerbaijan, simply because the Armenians resisted them. In Georgia, by destabilizing electoral processes and manipulating ballot boxes. In Moldova, where they attempted similar tactics but failed,” Macron stated.

The French President also noted Russia’s increasingly aggressive posture toward neighboring countries and its stricter nuclear doctrine. He commended Moldova’s President Maia Sandu for her resilience against such interference and mentioned Romania as another example, alleging Russian manipulation of election processes in the EU member state.
