Georgia's State Audit Office has introduced real-time monitoring of public tenders and procurement as part of strengthened anti-corruption measures, Vice Prime Minister and State Minister responsible for coordinating law enforcement agencies Mamuka Mdinaradze announced on Wednesday.
Speaking at a briefing, Mdinaradze said the relevant authorities would no longer focus solely on reviewing past cases but would also monitor procurement processes as they unfold.
"The relevant agencies will monitor not only cases from the past, but will also carry out oversight in real time. The State Audit Office has already introduced the practice of real-time monitoring of tenders and public procurement," he said.
According to the Vice Prime Minister, the Audit Office plans to examine around 100 state institutions and organisations at the central, autonomous and local government levels during 2026.
He said the Office's recommendations and identification of violations had already helped save or recover tens of millions of lari for the state budget.
Mdinaradze added that, over the past several months alone, the State Audit Office had referred cases involving GEL 50 million to the Prosecutor's Office for further investigation.
