Mdinaradze claimed the government was determined to reduce corruption to a historic low

Georgia’s parliamentary majority leader, Mamuka Mdinaradze, has pledged that the country will become one of the least corrupt in the world, citing “long-term reforms and strong political will.”

Speaking on the television channel Imedi, the chairman of the ruling Georgian Dream faction said the government was determined to reduce corruption to a historic low.

“We have announced and will see this through to the end. Corruption will be at such a low level in this country that we will be in the top three globally,” Mdinaradze declared. “This will not happen in one or two months - it is natural that it will take time - but the Georgian people will see the dynamics of how the fight against corruption is taking place.”

While acknowledging the scale of the challenge, Mdinaradze insisted that success would require “sacrificing everything” to achieve such ambitious anti-corruption goals.
