An individual who attacked Giorgi Kirtadze, a member of the United National Movement opposition party, in Batumi on Monday, has been arrested, the Special Investigation Service said on Tuesday.

The body said the suspect faces up to three years in prison.

Kirtadze was assaulted during a television live, with an offender initially throwing eggs at him and assaulting.

Kirtadze is a head of the Batumi office of the UNM and represents the party in the Adjara legislative body.
