Man killed by Russian-controlled border guards was shot in his back – local

Locals of the Kirbali village in central Georgia on Tuesday claimed Tamaz Ginturi, who was killed by Russian-controlled occupation forces on Monday near the occupied Tskhinvali (South Ossetia) region was shot “two times” in his back and his car was also damaged. 

They claimed the Russian-controlled so-called border guards, who were nine, had rolled down the car following the incident, and added Ginturi and currently illegally detained Levan Dotiashvili were heading to the village’s church to light candles. 

The Georgian Government has called on the international community to give a “due response” to the incident and exercise pressure on Russia to withdraw its troops from Georgian territory. 

The US, EU, CoE officials and the heads of foreign diplomatic missions in Georgia have strongly condemned the incident and said it was the consequence of Russia’s occupation of Georgian lands.
