Margus Tsahkna said Tallinn had already put forward a proposal within the bloc

Estonia has urged the European Union to consider imposing personal sanctions on individuals linked to what it describes as democratic backsliding in Georgia.

Speaking ahead of a meeting of EU foreign ministers, Margus Tsahkna said Tallinn had already put forward a proposal within the bloc.

“Estonia has already proposed that the European Union should impose personal sanctions against the Georgian authorities and individuals who are violating democratic norms. We are already doing this in Estonia,” he said.
