A member of Georgia’s opposition United National Movement has accused several law enforcement officials of involvement in the alleged abduction and torture of its Levan Khabeishvili in April 2024.

Speaking outside the Prosecutor’s Office, Mariam Dolidze named several individuals she claimed were directly involved in the incident, including Lasha Chikaidze, Ioseb Kobakhidze, Anzor Khmiadashvili and Davit Kamarauli.

She claimed the individuals are affiliated with units of the Interior Ministry, including the Special Operations Management division. She also alleged that senior officials, among them Iago Akhalkatsi, were involved in the case.

Dolidze further claimed that some of those allegedly involved were later rewarded with firearms. She also named additional officials who she said were present during the incident and recorded photo and video material.

The opposition figure called on Georgia’s Prosecutor General Giorgi Gvarakidze to respond immediately, investigate the case and ensure accountability.
