Georgia joined representatives from more than 50 countries in a panel discussion at the first summit of the Alliance of Sovereign Nations, Georgian MP Mariam Lashkhi said.
Lashkhi, who chairs the parliamentary Education, Science and Youth Affairs Committee, said on Friday Georgia participated in the summit at the invitation of US Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna.
She said Georgia used the platform to voice the interests of the Georgian people and underline the importance of protecting national values and sovereignty.
“The alliance is primarily based on shared national, traditional and Christian values, as well as the principle that nations should determine their own future through the will of their people,” Lashkhi said.
During the visit to the United States, discussions also touched on energy security issues and Georgia’s role in the Middle Corridor, the trade route connecting Asia and Europe.
Lashkhi claimed the meetings helped strengthen Georgia’s international contacts and contributed to building ties with political partners sharing similar views on sovereignty and international cooperation.
