President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, Marcos Perestrello, has announced that the Assembly will reassess Georgia’s commitment to shared democratic values, which will shape the future of its partnership with NATO.

“For weeks, the Georgian people have demonstrated their unwavering commitment to a democratic, European Georgia,” Perestrello stated. “It is time for Georgia’s political leaders to finally listen to their people and put an end to the democratic backsliding they have orchestrated.”

Perestrello reaffirmed the Assembly’s long-standing support for Georgia’s democratic, European, and Euro-Atlantic aspirations but emphasized that the reassessment of shared values was necessary to guide future cooperation.

In a letter addressed to the head of Georgia’s parliamentary delegation, Givi Mikanadze, Perestrello urged Georgian leaders to leverage their influence to ensure an immediate return to the democratic path.
