Driver arrested following fatal car accident on Marneuli-Bolnisi road

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia has released a statement regarding a tragic car accident on the Marneuli-Bolnisi highway.

According to the statement, officers from the Kvemo Kartli Main Division of the Patrol Police Department arrested a driver, identified as T.Ch., born in 2003, shortly after the incident. The arrest followed operational-search measures and investigative actions conducted on the scene.

The investigation revealed that the driver, while traveling on the highway with four passengers in the vehicle, was involved in a car accident that claimed the lives of two pedestrians. One of the minors died at the scene, while the other succumbed to injuries at a medical facility.

The investigation is ongoing under Article 276 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which pertains to violations of traffic safety or operation rules.
