The suspect was wanted in connection with theft offences allegedly committed in Turkey

Police in Georgia have arrested a Turkish national who was the subject of an Interpol red notice, the Ministry of Internal Affairs said on Thursday.

Officers from the Kvemo Kartli Police Department detained the 1968-born man, identified by his initials as E.K., following a request from Turkish law enforcement authorities.

The suspect was wanted in connection with theft offences allegedly committed in Turkey.

Extradition procedures are now under way in line with Georgian law.
