Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze on Wednesday said his office would restore the Laguna Vere swimming complex in the central part of the capital, expressing gratitude to former Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili and his Cartu foundation for the transfer of the property.

“We will arrange this space and determine together with the residents how the process should proceed. We will invite architects, designers, and the public will also be involved”, said the mayor.

He also made a mention of the silk plant on the territory, where Ivanishvili had plans to build multifunctional skyscrapers, receiving a backlash in social media.

The mayor claimed the plant would be maintained, despite it not being a cultural heritage.

A few days ago, when the media was interested in the issue of building the skyscrapers, Kaladze said that it “will be implemented by combining the new and the old”.
