The ruling Georgian Dream party MP, Mamuka Mdinaradze, says that he is sure former president Mikheil Saakashvili, who has been on hunger strike since October 1 in Ristavi Prison No.12, will feel good even on the 41st day of the hunger strike ‘because there is something suspicious in his protest.’

“Human beings may live without food for 40 days. However, I am sure Saakashvili will feel good even on the 41st day on his hunger strike and appear in a funny situation,” Mdinaradze said at a ruling party briefing earlier today.

He also stated that noone will force the ruling party to show respect to Saakashvili’s United National Movement party and former officials who were engaged with ‘torture and inhuman treatemnet’ while in power.

Saakashvili urged emigrants today to return for ‘one, important day,’ which will come soon.  Saakashvili says he returned to Georgia after eight years in political exile to remove the Georgian Dream from power.

He was convicted in Georgia back in 2018 for abuse of authority and was sentenced to six years in prison.

The former president was detained in Tbilisi a day before the Georgian municipal elections on October 2.
