Georgia doctors and nurses, who will assure people to receive the coronavirus vaccine, will receive 20 GEL per one individual who will decide to get the jab after their consultation.

The medical workers will be engaged in the large-scale campaigning starting today, Georgian Deputy Health Minister Tamar Gabunia says.

The Health Ministry stated that the move serves the goal to boost the vaccination rate in Georgia which has decreased from around 20,000 daily vaccinated individuals to 7,000 over the past several weeks.

1,844,965 have received the coronavirus vaccine in Georgia since March 2021 of which 849,946 have been completely vaccinated by Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Sinopharm or Sinovac vaccines.

The Georgian health officials fear that the vaccination of at least 60 percent of the country’s adult population by the end of the year, a necessary amount to curb the spread of the virus, with the current rate will be unlikely.
