Varketili station was closed on 12 July to allow structural repairs

Varketili metro station in Tbilisi will reopen to passengers tomorrow following weeks of rehabilitation works, though services will operate on a reduced timetable.

The Tbilisi City Hall announced on Monday the station would run daily from 07:00 until 23:00, closing an hour earlier than the standard metro schedule. Other stations on the network will continue to operate as usual.

City authorities also announced temporary changes to escalator directions to ensure smoother passenger flow. Incoming passengers will use the left-side escalator, while those leaving the station will exit via the right.

Varketili station was closed on 12 July to allow structural repairs, including reinforcement of the inclined tunnel’s cast-iron frames and renovation of the lower platform’s concrete arches.

Tbilisi City Hall said full rehabilitation of the station is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
