Metropolitan Grigol of Poti and Khobi has called on believers to be filled with hope, gratitude, and faith, stating that humanity’s long expectation since Adam’s exile from Paradise was not in vain.
In his Christmas message, Metropolitan Grigol said that the birth of Jesus Christ marked the beginning of a new era for humanity and announced a fundamental transition from the “old man” to the “new man,” rooted in truth, justice, and love.
He emphasized that Christ’s Nativity revealed God’s boundless love for humankind and established a clear boundary between the old and the new world, both spiritually and civilizationally. According to the Metropolitan, the core of Christian teaching is love for God and one’s neighbor.
Metropolitan Grigol noted that the grace flowing from Bethlehem brings light, hope, and strength to believers, particularly those suffering from war, imprisonment, illness, social hardship, or difficult personal circumstances. He stressed that true freedom is not defined by external conditions, but by responsibility before God and others.
Calling on society to overcome destructive habits inherited from the past, the Metropolitan urged people to abandon falsehood and deception and to embrace spiritual renewal through a transformation of consciousness and values.
He said that this inner renewal is especially vital for Georgia today, as lingering social and moral wounds require healing, patience, and courage to overcome fear of change.
Concluding his message, Metropolitan Grigol reminded believers that God fulfilled His promise by sending His Son for the salvation of humanity and encouraged all to follow the guiding “star of faith” toward eternal life.
He extended Christmas greetings to all faithful, reaffirming the message: “God is with us.”
