Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs has detained and deported a Turkish national who was residing in the country without legal grounds and was wanted by Turkish authorities for several criminal offenses.

The ministry said on Wednesday the officers from the Migration Department, in coordination with the Central Criminal Police Department, arrested B.G., a Turkish citizen born in 1997, during routine immigration control operations.

The investigation revealed that the detainee was wanted at the national level in Turkey for a series of crimes, including theft, bodily harm, fraud, and escape from prison.

Following the arrest, the Migration Department carried out formal deportation procedures. The individual was removed from Georgia via the Vale border crossing point, where he was handed over to representatives of Turkey’s law enforcement agencies for further legal action.

The Ministry said that the Migration Department continues to conduct regular special immigration inspections to ensure the effective enforcement of Georgia’s legislation on the legal status of foreigners and stateless persons.
