As part of efforts to combat illegal migration, the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs’ Migration Department carried out a special immigration control operation, resulting in the detention of 12 foreign nationals.
The Ministry said on Friday that officers had inspected specific locations based on gathered intelligence to identify individuals residing in Georgia without legal grounds.
The detainees include citizens of Jordan, India, Nepal, and Bangladesh.
The individuals are currently being held at the Migration Department’s temporary accommodation centre, where procedures are underway for their deportation.
The Ministry emphasised that such immigration control operations would continue regularly to ensure the effective enforcement of Georgia’s immigration legislation.
