Georgia has deported 29 foreign nationals found to be residing in the country without legal grounds, the Ministry of Internal Affairs has said.

In a statement on Tuesday, the ministry said the removals were carried out through coordinated efforts between its Migration Department and other relevant units.

Those expelled in recent days were citizens of India, Ghana, Turkey, Nepal, Turkmenistan, Iran, Pakistan and Latvia, officials said. All have been banned from re-entering Georgia under current legislation.

The ministry noted that the Migration Department is responsible for combating illegal migration within the country, including identifying foreigners without legal status and implementing deportation procedures.
