Georgian Migration Department detains 53 foreign nationals in immigration control operations

The Georgian Interior Ministry on Saturday said its Migration Department had detained 53 foreign nationals during special immigration control operations carried out in Tbilisi and Zugdidi, Kobuleti and Batumi as part of efforts to combat illegal migration.

The Ministry said those detained include citizens of Kenya, Uganda, India, Turkmenistan, the Philippines, Cuba, Jordan, Russia, Turkey, Ghana, Zimbabwe and Ethiopia.

The body added officers inspected specific locations and various types of facilities in order to identify foreign nationals residing in Georgia without legal grounds.
