The Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, in coordination with other relevant units, has deported 98 foreign nationals from Georgia over the past few days.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs on Tuesday said the deported individuals held citizenships from China, Turkey, Turkmenistan, India, Egypt, Russia, Pakistan, Azerbaijan, Jordan, Germany, Nigeria, Iraq, Bangladesh, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, Kenya, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. All were banned from re-entering Georgia in accordance with current legislation.
The ministry noted that in January 2026, 232 foreign nationals were deported, while in February, 312 illegal migrants were removed from the country. Combined, 544 foreign nationals have been deported in just the first two months of 2026.
This represents a 346% increase compared to the same period last year, exceeding the number of deportations in the first two months of 2025 by 4.5 times.
Authorities stressed that recent legislative changes and intensified immigration control measures had had a preventive effect, encouraging some foreign nationals residing illegally in Georgia to leave voluntarily.
In total, 1,306 foreign nationals have left Georgia in January and February 2026 due to overstaying or violating legal residence rules. They were fined 1,000–3,000 GEL under Article 191 of the Administrative Offences Code and were additionally banned from re-entering the country for one to three years, the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.
