Georgia expels 91 foreign nationals in November-December, Interior Ministry reports

The Migration Department of Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs expelled 91 citizens of various countries during November and December of this year. According to the ministry, some individuals voluntarily left the country, while others were forcibly removed following measures taken by the department.

“Based on relevant legislation, foreign nationals from countries including Iran, Algeria, India, Morocco, Sri Lanka, Egypt, Pakistan, Nigeria, Iraq, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Russia, Turkmenistan, and others were expelled during this period,” the ministry stated.

Among the expelled individuals were 25 foreign nationals who had participated in protests in Tbilisi during November and December and were subjected to various administrative penalties by court decisions. Of these, 10 have already left Georgian territory.

In total, the Migration Department expelled 430 foreign nationals in 2024, marking a 126% increase compared to the same period last year.

The Migration Department, tasked with combating illegal migration within Georgia, is responsible for identifying foreign nationals residing in the country without legal grounds and ensuring their expulsion, according to the ministry’s statement.
