Marko Mihkelson, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Estonian Parliament, called on Western countries to take a firm stance against Georgia’s upcoming presidential election. Posting on X, Mihkelson stated, “Western countries should announce in advance that they do not recognize the planned decision of Georgia’s illegitimate parliament to elect a new president on Saturday.”

Mihkelson emphasized that Georgia’s only legitimate constitutional authority is its current president, Salome Zourabichvili, and warned that the scheduled election lacks credibility and democratic legitimacy.

“To resolve the constitutional crisis and elect a new president, it is first necessary to organize new free and fair general elections,” he added, urging international allies to advocate for transparent and democratic processes in Georgia.
