Georgian President Mikhail Kavhelashvili on Tuesday expressed sorrow over the crash of a Turkish military aircraft.

“We share your grief over the loss of lives caused by the crash of a Turkish military cargo plane in Georgia. This devastating tragedy has deeply saddened us, and of course, in these most difficult moments, we stand with the Turkish people”, Kavhelashvili said.

The Turkish military aircraft crashed about five kilometers from Georgia’s border while flying from Azerbaijan to Turkey.

Turkey’s Ministry of National Defence said there were 20 military personnel on board the plane.
