Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili has emphasised that the South Caucasus region holds significant potential, noting that political stability paves the way for economic strength and the well-being of its people. He made the remarks while assessing his visit to Turkey.

According to Kavelashvili, Georgia and Turkey share a common vision on many issues. “During the meetings, we also discussed family values, as well as economic and political topics, and reviewed various initiatives. The high level of Turkey–Georgia relations gives me even greater motivation that these ties will continue to develop. Everyone can see that this region has great opportunities. Political stability is followed by economic stability and public prosperity. This has been achieved through principled policies based on national interests carried out by our countries,” he said.

He welcomed the idea of gradually involving Armenia in this cooperation format and stressed the importance of supporting the strength of neighbouring countries rather than seeking to weaken them. “It is very important for me that my neighbouring country is strong. This was an open and sincere conversation, which gives me hope that our relations will deepen further,” Kavelashvili noted.

The president said Georgia, like its neighbours, is committed to achieving lasting peace in the region. “We have upheld peace, family values, and national interests, and our friends in Turkey share the same approach. This gives me strong assurance that there will be peace and stability here in the long term. Everyone — be they strategic partners, friendly nations, or even ill-wishers — must understand that conflict is impossible here because these countries trust each other deeply. We are united in this,” he said.

Kavelashvili also confirmed that both the President of Turkey and the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly expressed interest in visiting Georgia. “I also had a very warm meeting with the Speaker. Earlier, our Parliament Speaker visited Turkey with a delegation, and I hope these relations will continue to grow stronger,” he added.
