Foreign policy guided by national interests, mutual respect, President Kavelashvili

Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili said the country's foreign policy is based on protecting national interests while maintaining relations with other states founded on mutual respect, trust and shared benefit.

Speaking in an interview with Imedi LIVE this week, Kavelashvili said Georgia's most successful historical periods had been shaped by a clear understanding of its national interests and a pragmatic approach to relations with countries with which it maintained political and economic ties.

"We do not attack anyone. Our priority is the interests of our country, and we are ready to build relations with every state based on mutual trust, mutual respect and mutual benefit," Kavelashvili said.

He added Georgia's current foreign policy reflected that state approach, with its priorities centred on preserving peace and stability, promoting economic development and fostering equal cooperation with international partners.

Kavelashvili also said that Georgia's achievements in a complex geopolitical environment had been positively assessed by international partners. According to the president, the country's development demonstrated that adapting its historical role to modern conditions enables Georgia to protect its national interests while remaining open to cooperation with all partners.
