Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili has praised the country's Army Camp programme, describing it as a unique initiative that helps young people develop discipline, responsibility and a deeper understanding of national values.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of Army Camp 2026 on Monday, Kavelashvili thanked the organisers, military instructors, clergy and teachers involved in the project, which is being held for a fourth consecutive year.
He said the programme offers participants valuable experiences and knowledge that would remain with them throughout their lives.
The president also paid tribute to Georgia's servicemen and women, saying their sacrifices, alongside those of previous generations, had helped secure the country's independence and sovereignty.
"We are united by our homeland," Kavelashvili said, adding that Georgians have a responsibility to serve and strengthen their country with the same commitment shown by their ancestors.
Addressing the young participants, he encouraged them to pursue success in their chosen professions while remaining guided by what he described as Georgia's core values, including patriotism, faith, family, culture and tradition.
Kavelashvili cited Georgian footballer Khvicha Kvaratskhelia as an example of professional success combined with strong personal values, saying young people should strive to emulate such qualities in their own careers.
He also said that Georgia is stronger and more developed than at any point since the restoration of its independence, but stressed that further progress would depend on the contribution and responsibility of every citizen.
According to the president, time spent at the camp will help participants become more focused, disciplined and responsible citizens throughout their lives.
