Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili expressed confidence that the trust-based and mutually respectful relations between Georgia and Turkey will continue to deepen. He made the remarks pn August 13 while summarising his official visit to Turkey.
According to Kavelashvili, relations between the two countries are currently at their highest point.
"First of all, I would like to express my gratitude. The Turkish side — including the President of Turkey and the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly — arranged top-level meetings for the Georgian delegation and myself. I am grateful for their efforts," Kavelashvili said.
He noted that discussions covered almost every topic, with the main focus on political cooperation and regional peace. "It is important for our public to know that my belief in the strength of our trust-based, respectful relationship with Turkey has only grown stronger. These relations will further develop and continue," he stressed.
Kavelashvili also praised Turkey’s role as a mediator in the early stages of the Russia–Ukraine war and noted both countries’ involvement in peace processes, including the resolution of issues between Azerbaijan and Armenia. He welcomed the positive progress in Turkey–Armenia relations as well.
Kavelashvili’s official visit to the Republic of Turkey concluded today.
