Georgia’s President Mikheil Kavelashvili has held talks with United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, focusing on peace, sustainable development, and regional stability.
The president’s press office on Friday said the meeting had highlighted Georgia’s role in maintaining peace and security in the South Caucasus. Both sides also discussed global challenges confronting the international community.
President Kavelashvili said Georgia’s government remained “firmly committed” to a path of peace, stability, and economic prosperity - a stance, the press office claimed, welcomed by Guterres, who expressed gratitude for Georgia’s consistent approach.
“The Secretary-General noted that we have withstood significant pressure. He thanked us for choosing the right course - one of peace, stability, and development. It is encouraging to see such recognition,” Kavelashvili stated following the meeting.
At the end of the visit, President Kavelashvili signed the UN’s guest book, leaving a commemorative message.
