President Kavelashvili: ‘yesterday’s elections in Georgia were held to highest democratic standards’

Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili on Sunday said local elections were conducted in full compliance with the “highest democratic standards”.

Speaking at a briefing, Kavelashvili expressed gratitude to the Central Election Commission for what he described as the professional and transparent organisation of the electoral process, and congratulated the winning party on its victory.

“I also thank all political parties that participated in the elections. I take this opportunity to congratulate the winning party on its success and wish them continued progress,” he added.
