Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili on Sunday said in the country the Government would change only through democratic elections, emphasising that the electoral process continued to improve and was becoming exemplary.

“Observers also noted yesterday that many EU countries still do not have such high standards. An electronic voting system has been introduced, and we can all see how advanced the process has become,” Kavelashvili said at a press briefing.

He also expressed appreciation toward state institutions, calling on them to act firmly when necessary to protect public order and safety.

“I thank and urge all state institutions to remain strict in addressing violations. When it comes to dispersing rallies or maintaining order, our law enforcement agencies act in an exemplary way - many could learn from how they protect the state and ensure public safety,” Kavelashvili added.
