Georgian President Mikheil Kavlelashvili has met Yerlan Koshanov, the Chairman of Kazakhstan’s Mäjilis (lower house of Parliament), to discuss expanding cooperation between the two countries, the President’s Office reported Thursday.
The leaders emphasized the friendly relations and productive partnership between Georgia and Kazakhstan, noting that bilateral trade had been growing rapidly and the two nations remain reliable economic partners.
Kavlelashvili highlighted plans to strengthen ties in the political, economic, and cultural spheres. He also expressed gratitude for Kazakhstan’s “firm support” of Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
“We believe we have excellent opportunities to expand and strengthen our friendship and partnership to reach new heights,” he said, stressing that cooperation should focus on peace initiatives and economic pragmatism amid global geopolitical turbulence.
Koshanov has served as Chairman of the Mäjilis since 2022, and is a senior figure in Kazakhstan’s political leadership.
Officials said both sides were committed to identifying new areas of cooperation and contributing to regional stability and prosperity across the South Caucasus and Central Asia.
