Georgia’s President meets IMF delegation to discuss economic progress

President Mikheil Kavelashvili met with senior representatives of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on Monday to discuss Georgia’s economic performance and the future of its cooperation with the Fund, the presidential press office said.
The meeting, held at the Presidential Palace in Tbilisi, was attended by Alejandro Hajdenberg, Head of the IMF Mission to Georgia, Jeroen Clicq, the Fund’s Executive Director and Andrew Juvelis, the IMF’s Resident Representative in the country.
Discussions focused on recent economic trends in Georgia, with both sides highlighting “positive developments” despite ongoing geopolitical challenges. President Kavelashvili and the IMF officials welcomed the outcomes of what was described as a “correct and consistent” fiscal policy, which has led to tangible progress across multiple sectors of the economy, the press office added.
The talks also addressed the current state of cooperation between Georgia and the IMF, with an emphasis on expanding the existing partnership.
President Kavelashvili expressed his gratitude to the IMF team for its “continued support”, particularly in the implementation of macro-fiscal and structural reforms.
