Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili has praised the country's Special State Protection Service of Georgia, describing its personnel as worthy successors to Georgia's long tradition of military service and national defence.
Speaking at an event marking the 32nd anniversary of the agency's establishment, Kavelashvili said the service remains one of the key pillars supporting the institutional stability of a strong and sovereign state.
"For centuries, the Georgian warrior and defender of the homeland has been associated with honour, courage and loyalty. You are worthy continuers of this proud tradition," the president told those gathered at the ceremony.
Kavelashvili thanked serving officers, veterans and current employees of the Special State Protection Service of Georgia for their dedication and service.
He said the agency had spent more than three decades safeguarding the country's stability, security and public order, adding that its professionalism and commitment were essential to protecting Georgia's highest state institutions and national interests.
According to the president, the responsibilities of the service extend beyond the protection of individuals and strategic facilities, playing an important role in maintaining the country's image and international reputation.
Kavelashvili also highlighted the introduction of modern standards and practices within the agency, saying these measures strengthen confidence among international partners and demonstrate the resilience of the Georgian state.
Representatives of both the legislative and executive branches of government attended the anniversary event alongside the president.
