Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili has congratulated the public on the arrival of 2026, saying that in 2025 Georgians demonstrated their characteristic resilience and defended the country’s sovereignty and national interests.

“In these special moments, as the old year becomes history and the new one opens its doors, I address you with great pride, gratitude and hope for the future. The year 2025 was a time of both trials and spiritual strength. Our people displayed their unique character and resilience, withstood unprecedented pressure and defended the country’s sovereignty and national interests, which means preserving our identity, faith and traditions. With this spirit and boundless love for our homeland, we welcome 2026,” Kavelashvili said.

“With sincere love and longing, I wish a happy New Year to our Abkhaz and Ossetian brothers and sisters, as well as to our compatriots living abroad. I would like to extend special congratulations and gratitude to the Georgian Orthodox Church, to His Holiness the Catholicos-Patriarch of Georgia, the spiritual pillar of our people and the guardian of faith, morality and national unity. I congratulate representatives of all confessions, the loyal sons and daughters of our country,” he added.

Kavelashvili also congratulated the Georgian Defence Forces and law enforcement agencies for safeguarding the country’s security, as well as professionals across various fields contributing to Georgia’s future.

“I wish every compatriot and every family health, prosperity and happiness in a united, strong, just and peaceful Georgia. May we always have faith that together we can overcome any challenge.

“Happy New Year 2026! May God protect our homeland,” the President said.
