Georgian President Mikhail Kavhelashvili on Wednesday held a phone conversation with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to offer condolences following the crash of a Turkish Air Force cargo aircraft in Georgia.

“Our discussion also covered the ongoing search and rescue operations. In these difficult moments, we stand with the Turkish people and share their pain and sorrow”, Kavhelashvili said.

The Turkish military aircraft crashed on Tuesday, approximately five kilometers from Georgia’s border, while flying from Azerbaijan to Turkey.

Turkey’s Ministry of National Defence said 20 military personnel were on board the aircraft.
