Georgian President meets Turkish Trade Minister to ‘deepen’ strategic partnership

Kavelashvili also reiterated Georgia’s broader commitment to regional peace and cooperation

President Mikheil Kavelashvili of Georgia has met with the Minister of Trade of the Republic of Turkey, Ömer Bolat, to reaffirm the strategic partnership between the two neighbouring countries and explore new avenues for economic cooperation, the Georgian President’s press office announced on Wednesday.
Speaking at the Presidential Palace in Tbilisi, Kavelashvili underscored the importance of the bilateral relationship, describing it as a partnership “based on trust, mutual respect, and the consideration of each other’s national interests.”
He expressed Georgia’s appreciation for Turkey’s continued support for its sovereignty and territorial integrity, calling Ankara’s stance “unwavering and deeply valued.”
The meeting focused on strengthening trade ties and furthering joint regional projects. “The existing projects of regional and strategic importance are a clear example of effective cooperation, sustainable development, and reliable partnership between our countries,” Kavelashvili stated. “I hope that with joint efforts, we will take economic relations to an even higher level.”
Kavelashvili also reiterated Georgia’s broader commitment to regional peace and cooperation. “Georgia is committed to promoting peace, stability and trust in the South Caucasus region through dialogue, diplomacy and cooperation,” he added.
The high-level meeting was attended by senior officials from both sides, including the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkey to Georgia, the Deputy Turkish Minister of Trade, and the Chairman of Turkey’s Department of International Agreements and the European Union. From the Georgian side, the Head of the Presidential Administration and the President’s Advisor were present.
