Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev discussed plans to sign a strategic partnership agreement that would elevate bilateral relations to a new level during talks on Thursday.
The Georgian President’s press office said the two leaders reviewed the agenda of Georgia-Uzbekistan relations, with particular emphasis on finalising the strategic partnership document.
The meeting also focused on expanding economic cooperation, developing the Middle Corridor - a trade route linking Europe and China via the South Caucasus and Central Asia - and strengthening coordination in international formats. The sides noted that the planned strategic partnership would create new opportunities for both bilateral ties and connectivity between the South Caucasus and Central Asia.
Kavelashvili described Uzbekistan as a reliable partner and friendly country, saying the two nations were united by mutual respect, shared interests and a commitment to deepening cooperation.
