President Mikheil Kavelashvili has praised Slovakia as a strategic partner for Georgia, highlighting the country’s commitment to freedom, sovereignty, and national interests during his recent visit.
Speaking after a series of high-level meetings on Friday, Kavelashvili expressed gratitude to Slovak President Peter Pellegrini for hosting him and arranging what he described as “meaningful and cordial” discussions.
“We are strategic partners with shared visions. We see a country, as an EU member, actively defending its freedom, sovereignty, and national interests - which is commendable and exemplary for us,” Kavelashvili said.
During his visit, Kavlashvili met with the Slovak Parliament Speaker and a delegation of lawmakers, discussing ways to intensify inter-parliamentary cooperation. He also held meetings with the executive branch, including the Deputy Prime Minister, to review trade, security, defence, education, youth, and cultural initiatives.
“Our countries’ relations at the highest level should become more frequent and connected. The areas discussed - trade, security, education, youth, culture - have great potential for deeper cooperation, and I hope these ties will intensify,” he said.
Kavelashvili further stressed that Georgia and Slovakia shared common values, including a commitment to defending sovereignty and freedom. He noted the importance of Georgia’s role in regional stability, particularly in the development of the Middle Corridor
