Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili on Wednesday hosted ambassadors accredited to the United Nations, highlighting the importance of such engagements in strengthening international cooperation.

The President’s press office said the discussions focused on productive collaboration within the United Nations, Georgia’s participation in UN processes and key issues on the global agenda.

Particular attention was given to the situation in Georgia’s occupied territories, alongside discussions on the country’s economic potential and ongoing reforms. Global challenges and current international developments were also reviewed.

Kavelashvili expressed support for UN Secretary-General António Guterres’ “UN80” reform initiative, which aims to enhance the efficiency and structure of the organisation. He also highlighted Georgia’s role as a platform for dialogue between civilisations and peace-building.

The visiting delegation included permanent representatives to the UN from Tonga, Samoa, Tajikistan, the Republic of the Congo, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Timor-Leste, Paraguay, Mauritius and Botswana.
