Georgian President meets Azerbaijani counterpart to discuss strategic partnership, regional stability

Georgian President Mikheil Kavlashvili on Monday held a bilateral meeting with his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev at the Presidential Palace in Tbilisi to discuss the high-level strategic partnership and cooperation between the two countries across various sectors, his office said.
Kavlashvili stressed that maintaining and further developing the “strong strategic partnership” with Azerbaijan was a key priority for Georgia.
Both leaders underlined the growing importance of regional stability and peace amid ongoing geopolitical shifts and fundamental changes in the international order.
During the meeting, Kavlashvili thanked Aliyev for Azerbaijan’s “steadfast support” for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. He also expressed appreciation for Aliyev’s visit to the Georgian Embassy in Baku to convey condolences following the passing of His Holiness, Ilia II, and for the sincere sympathy expressed on behalf of the Azerbaijani people.
Following the talks, Aliyev left a note in the Presidential Palace’s book of honour for visiting dignitaries. The meeting also highlighted the close and multifaceted cooperation between Georgia and Azerbaijan and reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining regional stability.
