President Mikheil Kavelashvili awarded representatives of Georgia’s cultural sphere with state honors - the Order of Excellence and the Order of Honor - upon the nomination of Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili.
The awards were granted for outstanding achievements in culture, exceptional service to Georgia, and significant contributions to the development of the cultural sector.
According to the Presidential Administration, the ceremony held at the Presidential Palace was attended by the President’s spouse Tamar Bagrationi, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili, Culture Minister Tinatin Rukhadze, Chairman of the Government of Adjara Sulkhan Tamazashvili, members of parliament, and representatives of the cultural community.
In his address, President Kavelashvili thanked the award recipients for their creative work, noting that Georgian culture remained one of the strongest expressions of national traditions, identity, and character.
“Georgian culture - cinema, music, theatre, and literature - has always stood at a high level. The generations who created this great heritage remain exemplary not only in Georgia but worldwide, and we are proud of it. It is essential to preserve and support what our ancestors have passed down and ensure it is handed over to future generations. You are the people who create this immense cultural legacy every day,” Kavelashvili said.
