Georgian President congratulates Sandro Bazadze on winning World Fencing Championship

President Mikheil Kavlelashvili has congratulated Georgian fencer Sandro Bazadze on winning the title of World Champion in sabre at the 2025 Fencing World Championships.

According to the Presidential Press Office, Kavlelashvili attended the championship alongside Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and other members of the government.

In recognition of Bazadze’s outstanding achievement, the President, Prime Minister, and Speaker of Parliament have jointly decided to award him the Order of Honor.

This marks the first time in history that Georgia has hosted the Fencing World Championships. The tournament is being held at Tbilisi Arena, with athletes from 120 countries participating. The championship includes competitions in sabre, épée, and foil, in both individual and team events.

The event is being organized with the support of the Georgian Ministry of Sport.
