Georgian President meets Slovak counterpart to deepen ties, EU cooperation

The one-on-one meeting held at the Slovak Presidential Palace focused on the successful partnership between Georgia and Slovakia

Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili met with Slovak President Peter Pellegrini during an official visit to Bratislava, with both sides stressing the need to deepen bilateral cooperation and strengthen political dialogue.
The one-on-one meeting held at the Slovak Presidential Palace focused on the successful partnership between Georgia and Slovakia, as well as the importance of intensifying high-level visits and expanding cooperation across various sectors, the president’s press office said on Thursday.
Kavelashvili underlined that, amid unprecedented global challenges and risks, further strengthening bilateral relations with Slovakia remained particularly valuable for Georgia, including mutual support in international formats.
The Georgian president also thanked his Slovak counterpart for supporting Georgia’s European integration path and for efforts aimed at safeguarding the European Union-Georgia partnership.
He further highlighted that Georgia highly values Slovakia’s firm support for its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Prior to the meeting, Kavelashvili signed the official guest book at the Presidential Palace, where an official welcoming ceremony was held in his honor.
President Pellegrini hosted the Georgian delegation as part of the official visit, which included both one-on-one and expanded-format meetings, followed by joint statements to the media.
During the visit, Kavelashvili is also scheduled to meet Slovak Deputy Prime Minister Denisa Saková and Speaker of the National Council Richard Raši.
The Georgian delegation includes Chair of Parliament’s Foreign Relations Committee Nikoloz Samkharadze, Deputy Foreign Minister Giorgi Zurabashvili, Georgia’s Ambassador to Slovakia Konstantine Kvachakidze, and representatives of the Presidential Administration.
The official visit to Bratislava is set to conclude on April 3.
