During his inauguration speech, Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili emphasized the critical role Christianity has played in shaping and uniting the Georgian nation. He noted that Orthodox Christianity and Georgian identity have become inseparable concepts over time.

“Whenever Georgians defended their homeland, they knew they were protecting their families and their faith,” Kavelashvili stated.

The President highlighted how Orthodox Christianity contributed significantly to the development of the Georgian people’s humanitarian nature and was a decisive factor in shaping the nation’s European and civilizational orientation.

“We must safeguard the three treasures that Ilia Chavchavadze entrusted to us: our homeland, language, and faith. Without protecting these values, we cannot truly call ourselves men, nor can we answer to future generations. It was our commitment to these principles, our faith in ourselves, and love for one another that enabled the Georgian nation to endure and survive countless challenges,” Kavelashvili declared.
