Georgia’s third president, Mikheil Saakashvili, on Sunday released a statement on social media urging opposition supporters to shift from frustration to organisation, comparing the current situation to the country’s past revolutionary movements.

“It is not the time to complain, it’s time to organise. The Rose Revolution took several weeks, and the Adjara Revolution took six months,” Saakashvili wrote.

He claimed that despite alleged election falsifications, the ruling Georgian Dream party “failed to secure more than 20 percent,” which he said was “less than what Shevardnadze received in 2003”.

Saakashvili also called on the political party Lelo to rejoin the broader opposition struggle, stating that “it should now be clear that nothing can be achieved through so-called elections.”

“Despite everything, hundreds of thousands of passionate patriots took to the streets to reclaim the country. But the decisive word belongs to Generation Z — they will lead the nation to safety and to the final victory of truth,” the former president wrote.
