Georgia’s arrested third President, Mikheil Saakashvili, wrote on social media that the current political struggle in the country represented a clash of two mentalities, rather than just two political camps.

Saakashvili criticized the ruling Georgian Dream party, claiming that within the party, it was considered normal for public officials to engage in corruption.

“In Georgian Dream, it is considered normal that if you hold office, you must steal. Ivanishvili halted the arrest of GD officials over corruption allegations because research shows that ordinary party members strongly disapprove of such measures,” Saakashvili wrote.

He recalled how, in the past, “proto-GD” officials were seen as “dogs” who neither consumed nor shared resources, contrasting them with the current party mentality.

“They prefer that corrupt officials run the state, hoping that one day they themselves will reach similar positions. That is why today, in Georgia, it is not just two camps fighting each other - it is two mentalities,” Saakashvili added.
